Trace Construction Group delivered the transformation of a tired Woodford garden into a Mediterranean-inspired outdoor living space. Designed to maximise functionality and create seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas, the project reflects modern minimalist design while offering a warm and inviting environment for family life and entertaining.
The project began with full excavation and clearance to overcome challenges such as uneven ground levels and restricted access. By reducing the site back to a blank canvas, our team was able to completely reimagine the layout. This approach allowed us to make full use of the available space while bringing the client’s vision of a Mediterranean-inspired retreat to life.
The new garden design focuses on clean geometry, open space, and elegant detailing. Built-in rendered seating creates strong architectural lines while serving as practical gathering areas. Crisp white render finishes and natural stone-effect tiling echo the look and feel of coastal villas. Integrated lighting enhances the space after dark, highlighting steps, seating, and planting zones to create a welcoming atmosphere for evening use.
Material choices were intentionally simple and timeless, with white walls, warm timber fencing, and subtle greenery working in harmony. Artificial lawn was introduced to provide year-round colour without the upkeep of natural grass, while carefully chosen feature trees and planting added softness to balance the structured design. The result is a space that feels both low-maintenance and sophisticated, tailored to modern London living.
The layout was designed to adapt to multiple uses, from hosting large gatherings to providing a quiet retreat for the family. The stepped design embraced the site’s natural levels, creating distinct zones without interrupting visual continuity. Flexible central space allows for adaptable furniture arrangements, while built-in lighting ensures both safety and atmosphere throughout the evening.
This outdoor living space has redefined the way the family uses their home, creating a true extension of the interior that can be enjoyed all year round. The design enhances lifestyle by combining practicality with contemporary style, while also increasing the property’s long-term value. This Woodford project showcases Trace Construction Group’s ability to deliver innovative garden transformations that combine architectural thinking with skilled execution.
